Hajj 2025 is around the corner.

Millions of Muslims are dedicating their efforts to perform Hajj this year, and billions of them are thinking about it in their prayers and wishes. Allah has made the Hajj the most popular world event by putting the love for it in the hearts of billions of Muslims.

A question is, “Is Hajj only a ritual without lessons?” Subhanallah! Allah never prescribes anything without meaning or without lessons. Hajj is the same.

It is there to change the life of a Muslim for the better. What does the Holy Quran say about it? Holy Quran states:

إِنَّ أَوَّلَ بَيْتٍۢ وُضِعَ لِلنَّاسِ لَلَّذِى بِبَكَّةَ مُبَارَكًۭا وَهُدًۭى لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Surely the first House (of worship) established for humanity is the one at Bakkah (Makkah)—a blessed sanctuary and a guide for (all) people. [Quran 3:96]

A GUIDE? Yes, the Sacred House and the Hajj is to learn guidance, lessons, and to take away lessons from it to practice in daily life.

After Hajj, leaving everything behind, and going back home with luggage, shopping, photos, and the title Al-Hajj etc, are not the main purpose of Hajj.

Why is Hajj the best worship? The answer is that Hajj is the summary of all worships, full of lessons and guidance.

A lesson from Hajj can be the regular habit of “Responding to Allah’s call all the time as a Muslim.” Look! Allah called believers for Hajj:

وَأَذِّن فِى ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَجِّ

“Call (all) people to the pilgrimage,” [Quran 22:27]

Then, Muslims respond to Allah’s call by saying, “Labbaika (I am present to respond to your call)”. The lesson from this is that “Responding to Allah’s call must be a permanent mission in every Muslim’s life.”

So, when a Muslim returns home, and listens to Allah’s call for 5 times daily prayer, they should say, “Yes, I shall respond to Allah’s call by performing my 5 times Salah regularly.”

That’s how, a Muslim should respond to Allah’s call about Halal food, drinks, business, actions, fairness, justice, human rights, honesty, sincerity, truthfulness, righteousness in all levels, and should avoid what Allah has called to avoid such as Haram food, drink, actions, corruption, murder, human right abuses, greed, arrogance, selfishness, anger with rage, jealousy and envy, dishonesty and treachery etc.

This simple lesson from Hajj can turn us into best servants of Allah, and can qualify us for Paradise, Insha Allah!

I have written a book called, “Lessons from Hajj.”  in order to serve Allah’s deen for His pleasure. May Allah accept my service.
