The United Muslims of Northern Territory’s youth empowerment team successfully hosted its first major event, Hidden Gems: Inspiring Future Leaders, also named Kingpin Bonanza as part of NT Youth Empowerment Strategy (YES) on Saturday 18 January at Kingpin, Darwin.
The event exceeded expectations, with an overwhelming number of enthusiastic youth participants eager to engage in a day filled with fun, reflection, and leadership development.
The evening was packed with activities, including bowling, laser tag, prayer, and insightful discussions on leadership.

It provided a platform for young individuals to share ideas, strategize upcoming events, and explore ways to benefit the youth community in the year ahead.
Throughout the day, valuable lessons on leadership and personal growth emerged through both sports and discussions. Focus and concentration were key takeaways as participants learned that just as in bowling, where one must focus on the target, leaders must stay focused on their goals and priorities.
Success comes from maintaining clear vision and determination. Teamwork and collaboration played a crucial role, as effective teamwork leads to success. We learned how to work together, support one another, and empower our team members to achieve collective goals.
The teachings of Prophet Muhammad (s) emphasise the power of unity and collaboration.

Perseverance and resilience became apparent as bowling teaches an important lesson: even if you don’t get a strike, you keep trying. Likewise, leadership requires perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges.

Sportsmanship and humility were also highlighted, as winning and losing are part of the game, but true sportsmanship is about maintaining humility and respect for others. As leaders, we must embrace both success and setbacks with grace.
This event was not just about entertainment; it was a stepping stone towards fostering leadership, teamwork, and strategic thinking among the youth. Hidden Gems: Inspiring Future Leaders proved to be a remarkable experience, setting the tone for an impactful year ahead.
