What is unfolding in Gaza is not war. It is deliberate, systematic extermination — meticulously orchestrated by a nuclear-armed apartheid state backed by the US and shielded by cowardly allies like Australia.

Today, tens of thousands of Palestinian children are being deliberately starved to death.

According to the UN and the latest Lancet research, 186,000 Gazans likely have already died, and many more are dying slowly — from Israel’s engineered famine and intentional destruction of hospitals, water supplies, and aid convoys.

This is not collateral damage but mass murder happening in full view.

As SHAPE explained “These unspeakable atrocities leave us with just two words to describe the conduct of the cabal presently ruling Israel: pure evil.”

In 2024, the ICC issued genocide indictments against Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister Gallant, charging them with extermination, starvation as a weapon of war, and attacks on civilian infrastructure.

The same crimes were committed during Rwandan and Bosnian genocides — when we said “Never Again.”

Anthony Albanese called for peace. But words ring hollow when babies are dying with sunken eyes and bloated bellies, and aid trucks are blocked by bureaucratic cruelty.

Every hour Australia delays concrete action, more children die.

The October 7 uprising did not emerge from a vacuum. It was a direct consequence of 100 years of Zionist colonisation, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid.

From the British Mandate era — when terrorist Zionist militias Irgun and the Stern Gang seized Palestinian lands — to today’s Gaza siege, Israel pursued a single goal: removal of the Palestinian people.

Thomas Suárez’s Palestine Hijacked (2023) chronicles how Zionist settlers forged a state not through democracy, but through massacres, expulsions, and land theft.

Successor extremist politicians like Bezalel Smotrich openly call for annihilation of entire Palestinian towns.

International law is clear. UN Resolution 37/43 (1982) affirms the legal right of peoples under foreign occupation to resist.

Election of Israel’s far-right extremist government in 2022, intensified pogroms in the West Bank and storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

October 7 was the foreseeable flashpoint of decades of brutalisation.

Australia is not a neutral bystander. We are complicit.

We continue exporting weapon parts to the US and Israel — despite Israel’s indictment for genocide. We silence dissent at home: peaceful pro-Palestine protests are demonised.

Worst of all, we witness the weaponisation of anti-Semitism to suppress legitimate protest.

Criticising a foreign government committing genocide is not antisemitic — it is a moral obligation.

By conflating support for Palestinian rights with hate, Australian authorities created a chilling effect on free speech.

Yet Australians take pride in our values – we always stood for justice.

We were pioneers in the welfare state, and leaders in international peacekeeping. These values compel us to speak up now.

Eight Demands for the Australian Government:

  1. Recognise the State of Palestine immediately.
  2. Break diplomatic relations with Israel until  a complete ceasefire has been established across Palestinian Territories.
  3. Ban Australian citizens, especially dual nationals, from participating in the conflict, by proscribing the IDF as a terrorist organisation.
  4. Release secret Memoranda of Understanding with Israel signed under Malcolm Turnbull.
  5. Cease all military exports including parts, to the United States and Israel.
  6. Sanction Israeli leaders and settlers implicated in war crimes.
  7. Support and financially contribute to the Arab Plan for Gaza’s construction adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in March.
  8. Defend Australians’ right to protest injustice without harassment or suppression.

PM Albanese has built his political career on fairness, solidarity, and working-class justice. But now he faces his defining test.

Will he act, or will he equivocate as a generation of Palestinian children is erased before our eyes?

History will not forgive moral cowardice. Future generations will ask what we did when Gaza starved. They will ask why we let it happen.

PM Albanese, you have the power to act. Use it. Stand with humanity. Stand with conscience.

End Australia’s complicity in genocide — before it’s too late!
