Every parent is naturally concerned about the best future and the best well-being for their children.  If they make a list then the list will become a very long one, and they might feel overwhelmed about which one to do right now and which one to do later.  That is why the wise Muslim parents need to make a list, and also should make a priority list.

In this brief essay I would like to offer a couple of priorities for Muslim parents to guide their children properly.  These suggestions are not from me but are guidance from the Holy Quran.

The first priority is parents’ dua for their children.

Prophet Ibrahim (a) he prayed to Allah, “Oh my Lord, grant me a righteous progeny.” (Quran 37:100)

In his dua he was very specific about the righteous child and the point to note here is that Allah accepted his parental dua and He said, “So, we gave him the good news of a boy ready (to be born) to suffer and be patient.” (Quran 37:101)

So, the lesson is that Muslim parents must make dua to Allah for their children who would be guided to be the best Muslims.

The second advice is that as Muslim parents we must make our target about how we are going to connect our children with best place on the earth called Masjid.

The mother of Maryam (a), she did that for Maryam (a) even when she was carrying the baby in her womb.  Allah loved her promise and offering so much that Allah has put Maryam’s (a) mother’s promise in the Holy Quran as a lesson for all parents.

She said, “Oh my Lord, I do dedicate to You (Allah) what is in my womb for Your special services.” (Al Quran 3:35)

What was that service for her daughter she promised to Allah?  That was her daughter to serve Masjid-Al-Aqsa to service there, to learn from there, to worship Allah in there, and to be in the best place for the pleasure of Allah.

The lesson here is that Muslim parents should make a plan to connect their children with the House of Allah to be involved in suitable services.

Allah accepted the promise from a righteous mother and placed Maryam (a) into the service of the Masjid and provided the best teacher for her. He was Prophet Zakariyya (a).

This also indicates that Muslim parents should put the Islamic teachings for their children through the best teachers in their priority list.

To conclude, if we go through Quran stories we find valuable lessons from Allah for the best parenting for the best of our children.  Our sincere prayer to Allah as He has taught us in the Holy Quran for example, “Our Lord, give to us wives and children who will be comfort for our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous.” Quran 25:74)
