Al-Mawrid Australia has invited Javed Ahmed Ghamidi, a famous Islamic scholar, to lead a 3-day workshop in Sydney to be held from from Sat 30 September to Mon 2 October 2023 at the Mercure Hotel in Liverpool.

Prior to the workshop, there will be a meet and greet event at the Parra Villa Function Lounge on September 29th at 6:30 pm.

Javed Ahmed Ghamidi has gained recognition in the Islamic world for his unique approach to understanding religion. He emphasises a logical and methodical approach to understanding Islam that resonates with those who question and seek knowledge. His scholarly expertise is highly respected in contemporary Islamic study circles.

Ghamidi is widely recognized for his extensive writings and lectures on the Qur’an, Islamic law, and various contemporary issues. His work draws influence from the Qur’anic ideas of Imam Hamid Uddin Farahi and Imam Amin Ahsan Islahi. He presents their viewpoints in a more precise manner while also adding his own unique contributions to Islamic thought.

Ghamidi’s annotated translation of the Qur’an, called Al-Bayan, exemplifies this. In Al-Bayan he has utilized his deep understanding of classical Arabic and the Qur’an to unveil the authentic meaning of the divine message which is captured within the translated text.

This understanding of the authentic meaning of the divine message has revealed a divine practice explained in the Qur’an. In simple terms, when Allah sends a messenger with clear evidence, those who accept the truth are rewarded, and those who reject it are punished, as proof to the judgement that will take place in the Hereafter. It is God’s way of ensuring that humanity stays aware of the ultimate truth about the afterlife, as conveyed by His messengers.

It is important to note that this practice is separate from the other directives laid down by Allah in the Qur’an which relate to the Shariah (Law) and are applicable universally. Ghamidi argues that these directives in the Qur’an have specific context and applicability. The followers of messengers cannot engage in this divine practice on their own without the agency of their prophets.

This 3-day workshop and the meet and greet event in Sydney is yet another effort of Al-Mawrid Australia to invite renowned Islamic scholars to Australia. Through these events Al-Mawrid endeavors to provide opportunity to it’s members, friends of Al-Mawrid and its well wishers to gain fresh perspectives on religious issues, ask questions in a conducive atmosphere, and connect with like-minded individuals.
