A Sydney based conference to address the challenges faced by Muslim youth living in Australia has been organised by Minhaj-ul-Quran International on Friday 10 June in Bankstown. The conference will be addressed by prominent speakers including Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, the President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Dr Jan Ali, an acedemic from WSU, Ms Ayesha Bux, founder of SalamFest, Mobinah Ahmad, Managing Editor of AMUST.

Minhaj-ul-Quran International, ia an international organisation working to promote peace, tolerance, interfaith harmony and education, tackle extremism and terrorism, engage with young Muslims for religious moderation, promote women’s rights, development and empowerment, and provide social welfare and promotion of human rights in more than 100 countries around the world.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, is the President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and is also the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of Minhaj University Lahore (MUL). He is also affiliated with the University of Melbourne Australia as Senior Fellow for many years and is also an author of thirty books, writer of over fifty research articles and a reputed international speaker. In December 2019, Dr Hussain was honored with Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA Award 2019) in recognition of his meritorious research work in the field of Islamic economics and finance.

 Invited Guest Speakers:

Dr Jan Ali, is a religious sociologist specialising in Islam. He holds an appointment as a Senior Lecturer in Islam and Modernity in the School of Humanities and Communication Arts at the Western Sydney University. His main sociological focus is the study of existential Islam. Jan has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in international journals and book chapters. He has written three books as well.

Ms Ayesha Bux, is the founder of SalamFest. Ayesha is on the board of JCMA(Jewish, Christian, Muslim Association) and the chair of the Women’s committee. Ayesha has served on the board of SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council and as the Honorary Investment Consul for Pakistan in Melbourne. Ayesha has a desire to share and celebrate Muslim contributions in arts, culture and cuisine with the broader Australian community.

Ms Mobinah Ahmad, is the Managing Editor of Australasian Muslim Times (AMUST) which highlights positive news and brings to light issues within the multicultural communities. She is currently an Account Director at Fifty Acres. She has been an executive officer of the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry NSW and worked with the Australian Human Rights Commission. She is mentor of many Muslim women and youth.
