NationStates is a nation simulation game that most of us know where you create a nation based on your political ideals and care for its people or deliberately oppress them. It’s up to the inhabitants of that Nation.
The concept of Nation States with singularity is flawed . Historical evidence show that when two entirely different group of people mingle with each other , the third group which inherits the attribute of both is born.
If you split same group into two and rehabilitate them into entirely different geography and social mix , these two evolve into another new dimension which is different from their original trait.
This is how our evolution has worked since centuries . However, in last couple of years the resurgence of Nationalist concept across the globe has eroded the human values to significantly damaging level.
The concept of otherness has created fissures , some of them are quite deep and wide. Human wisdom has been put to test through resource rich propaganda machinery .
To fight against evil forces is not a business of any particular region or community, this has to be recognised as a collective pain and then healing mechanism to be placed accordingly.
India is going through an epoch, an era of turbulence where fascism has taken a centre stage, the design of the propaganda has been effectively unleashed and value of constitutional institutions have been compromised.
The narrative has been manufactured to enforce the idea of alienation onto its largest minority, everyone is trading this narrative effectively and with Muslims as it’s Centre, the non right Hindus showing their sympathetic support to Muslims.
The biggest problem with this is that the non-right leaning individuals (intellectuals to be precise) busy claiming their support to the cornered Muslims.
This is the biggest mistake that is being done more vehemently under the discourse of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
This idea of extending support to Muslim is flawed to the extent that it helps Fascism with all manures at the root nodule level .
These non-right intellectual (& masses) are abandoning Muslims by not taking the ownership to fight Fascism directly , rather trying to be ally of Muslims and continue to play from galleries.
In the worst case scenario they believe that it is Muslims that will suffer the losses in terms of life and property, and the religious statistics of over 30 deaths due to police brutalities during anti CAA/NRC protest supports that understanding.
The only onus to save the ethos of democracy and human values lies with Majority community of the land, more so when majority constitutes the whooping 80% of the total population.
They can no longer afford to be playing from galleries and keep giving dictations on their support through armchair journalism or through WhatsApp activism .
India is going through unprecedented turmoil and silence is no more an option, playing your support card from the backyard is cowardice and hence Hindus must come to the front door of constitutional corridor and write a chapter of their own with grace and head held high with unstained pride.
They have read enough history and in this time of immense pain, they need to write the history. The history that would be for no one else but for themselves , for their own values, for their own idea of humanity and civilisation .
They must play a role at the front instead being last in queue when their minority is demonised, sidelined and mercilessly killed .
I would take hints from Charles Dicken’s binary and foil where he has beautifully summed up such historical complexity in his ‘A Tales of Two Cities’ and would like to remind all of us those epic lines.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”
