A crowd of close to 1,000 packed into Lakemba Mosque on Thursday night, 23 November, for a special presentation to the youth by the rapidly emerging international Muslim speaker, The Sunnah Guy.
Hailing from England, the 29-year-old, whose real name is Shoaib Hussain, is an influencer, entrepreneur, youth worker and film-maker.
He recently completed a short tour of Australia under the management of Olive Tree Events, cramming in numerous public appearances and doing a lot of great work with Muslim youth in Brisbane. Melbourne and Sydney.

King of the kids….The Sunnah Guy was swamped by a mass of young supporter after the conclusion of his Lakemba Mosque presentation.
With a massive social media following especially on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, The Sunnah Guy is regarded is the rising star of the international speaking circuit in terms of young Muslims in the western world.
Australia is the most recent of the 16 countries he has visited during 2023 and the travel itinerary for the next 12 months looks like being even busier for this affable young man who resonates with Muslim youth wherever he visits throughout the world.
“I have really enjoyed myself ‘down under’ but the time has just flown by and I am really sad to be leaving,” The Sunnah Guy told AMUST on the set of the Lebanese Muslim Association’s “Studio 65” where he had just completed a podcast commitment.
“I am genuinely going to miss Australia and this past week in Sydney, while it has passed very quickly, has been wonderful.”
Tuesday, November 21 at the Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown saw the Australian premiere of Shoaib’s feature length film ‘2 Sides’ which sends a powerful message to our youth about the perils of neglecting one’s faith and preferring the superficial thrills and temptations of this world, specifically money and the gang life.
“2 Sides is a genuine attempt to take away the attraction of gangs in the mind of young Muslim men,” Shoab explained.

The Sunnah Guy during his Sydney visit with AMUST writer John Mahoney.
“It really concerns me that boys as young as 14 or 15 can think that gangs are an acceptable away of life.”
“These kids are listening to the wrong people and this saddens me greatly as the Muslim community has so many positive role models they could be listening to.”
In spite of his impressive ‘numbers’ on various social media platforms, The Sunnah Guy was largely unknown to Australia’s rapidly growing Muslim population of close to one million, prior to his recent visit.
However, he left an indelible impression in the minds of many, many people during his stay as he is a delightful and friendly young man who speaks with both passion and knowledge…an ideal role model for our youth.

Almost 1,000 people attended the The Sunnah Guy’s Lakemba Mosque event.
