Eid is a very good therapy for happiness.
That’s why Eid is called happiness. For our well-being, happiness is essential. In this brief essay, I shall highlight a few reasons how Eid contributes to the well-being for Muslims.
Eid brings spiritual joy. This joy is a gift from Allah. For fasting, and self-control, Allah grants blessings into the hearts of the believers. That’s why they feel joy in their soul. Human souls suffer from worries, fears and anxieties for sins.
Allah forgives believers on the day of Eid, that deletes their sins to increase joy in the righteous servants of Him. The more one is righteous through fasting, prayers, Quran recitations, and worships to Allah, the more spiritual joy one can feel.
Eid is a remedy for loneliness. Many people suffer from loneliness in this world, and from that they may self-harm or even some people commit suicide from depression. Eid brings Muslims together. It works as an anti-depressant.
The month-long preparation with friends and families for Eid gives a sense of belonging, a community spirit, and a feeling to look forward to the happy occasion.
Eid unites hearts in love for the sake of Allah. On Eid day, all the Muslims gather in a place to perform Eid Prayer together, to worship Allah, and to supplicate for their well-beings in both lives. Then men hug men, and women hug women as a symbol of love sharing. Besides, they seek forgiveness from one another.
The entire environment turns to a joyful event to return home with happiness. With this wonderful union they remove their grudges, hatred, animosity, hurt, and grief to be refreshed with their healthy well-being.
Eid provides a welfare system in the Muslim community. The joy of Eid is not limited to only the rich Muslims. It extends to the poor and vulnerable Muslims as well. To remove their sadness and to turn their Eid into a joyful occasion as well, the rich Muslims must pay a charity called “Sadaqatul Fitr.” This charity goes to the poor Muslims to enjoy the happiness of Eid. Happiness increases their well-being.
Finally, for a happy individual, family or a society, well-being is very important. Fasting in the Month of Ramadan and Eid followed by it, is Allah’s special gift for the believers for their well-being.
This well-being is far-reaching, and not only limited to this life, but to the everlasting next life too. We thank Allah for giving us such a wonderful gift. Alhamdulillah!
