The Asia-Australia Business Conclave and Awards 2024, held at the iconic Parliament of New South Wales 3rd week of December 2024, celebrated outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to strengthening the relationship between Australia and Asia.

Among the distinguished honourees was Nadeem Ahmed, the founder of Indians in Sydney, who was recognised for his exceptional leadership and commitment to empowering the Indian community in Australia. His recognition at the event was a testament to his tireless efforts in building a strong, supportive network for the Indian diaspora.

Nadeem Ahmed: A Visionary Leader Transforming the Indian Community in Sydney

Since founding Indians in Sydney in 2007, Nadeem Ahmed has grown the organisation into New South Wales’ largest Indian community platform, now boasting over 135,000 members. Reflecting on the group’s extraordinary growth, Nadeem humbly remarked, “I never imagined it would grow into something so much bigger than myself.”

What started as a small initiative to offer support to Indian migrants has blossomed into a vibrant, thriving platform that connects individuals, fosters a sense of belonging, and provides resources for community members to thrive in Australia.

Under Nadeem’s leadership, Indians in Sydney has become much more than just a group—it’s a lifeline for many. Whether helping newcomers adjust to Australian life, organising cultural celebrations that showcase India’s rich heritage, or providing assistance to those in need, Nadeem has led the platform with empathy and a commitment to service.

He has made sure that Indians in Sydney is not only a place for social connection but also a space for empowerment and growth. Nadeem Ahmed’s vision for Indians in Sydney extends beyond providing just a support network—it is about fostering spaces where meaningful conversations take place and personal growth is encouraged.

A key initiative that reflects this commitment is Samvaad, a platform designed for open dialogue within the community. The word “Samvaad” means “conversation” or “dialogue” in Hindi, and this initiative lives up to its name by addressing a range of topics that are important to the Indian diaspora in Australia.

From mental health and well-being to career development and life in a new country, Samvaad offers a safe space for individuals to voice their concerns, ask questions, and engage in discussions that promote understanding, empathy, and growth.

A Commitment to Community Service and Compassion

At the heart of Nadeem’s leadership is his unwavering dedication to community service. Nadeem believes in the power of unity, and his actions consistently reflect this philosophy. One of the group’s most impactful initiatives is the Winter Drive, an annual effort to collect and distribute blankets and warm clothing to those facing hardships during the cold winter months.

This initiative ensures that those in need, such as the homeless and vulnerable, have access to basic necessities and feel the warmth of community support. Another significant initiative spearheaded by Nadeem is the Meal for Everyone Drive, which brings together volunteers to provide hot meals to the homeless and struggling individuals.

Through this initiative, Nadeem has worked to combat food insecurity in Sydney, creating an environment of care and compassion while helping to strengthen the bonds within the community.

Further expanding his focus on empowerment and storytelling, Nadeem launched the Journey: A Migrant Story Series, which celebrates the resilience, determination, and achievements of Indian migrants in Australia.

This series highlights the personal journeys of individuals who have navigated the challenges of settling in a new country, overcoming obstacles, and ultimately succeeding in their professional and personal lives.

Recognised for His Leadership and Service

Nadeem Ahmed’s exemplary service has been recognised by various institutions. He was honored with the Community Service Award by the New South Wales Government and was nominated for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award.

At the Asia-Australia Business Conclave and Awards, Nadeem received a prestigious award from the Consul General of India and Simon Taufel, the former international cricket umpire, who were also keynote speakers at the event.

Nadeem expressed his gratitude by acknowledging that the recognition was not only for him but for the entire Indians in Sydney community. He emphasized, “This award reflects the collective efforts of our community, and I am proud to be part of this thriving, multicultural landscape.”

The Vision Behind WCRCINT and the Asia-Australia Business Conclave

The Asia-Australia Business Conclave and Awards 2024 was organised by WCRCINT (World Consulting and Research Corporation International), a platform founded by Abhimanyu Ghosh to foster cross-border collaboration and innovation.

The theme of this year’s conclave, “Synergy in Diversity,” highlighted the importance of diversity, collaboration, and innovation in driving global success.

Ghosh believes that the future of business lies in the ability of nations to work together, share experiences, and embrace diversity. His vision for the conclave was to create a space where leaders from both regions could engage in dialogue and explore the challenges and opportunities in trade, technology, and leadership.

“The future of business is global, and we must embrace the synergies that exist across borders,” Ghosh said during his address.
