In this profession there’s real devotion
So I think I am the one soldering along to work when unwell
She comes along in dark glasses, lost her brother not long ago
Just to keep herself going she’s wrapped herself in a shawl of love!
Here she comes with a face looking like an inflated balloon, somewhat deflated now!
Her enthusiasm is fearfully infectious, like she’s just come from some amazing party
He just lost his mother, was sick as sick can be, thought he had Ebola,
tissues stuck up his nose, red in the face, yet all pumped to make a difference
There we go profession, join if you’ve devotion!
Asked the kids to read, no miss I am sick,
Thanks to those who did, team work guaranteed!
I am thinking this, up since early morn tossing calling in sick!
Here they come one after the other, slept in, bus late, whatever!
Is is just me? I wonder, so ready to help, to teach to give, to educate!
No, look around say circumstances look around there’s inspiration!
In this profession there’s real devotion, and also inspiration!
Asked a kid, can I go for a drink, ok I pointed to the nearest taps!
He comes in his own joyous time, seemingly walked around the school!
next kid is at the door, so this same nearest to the door kid
refuses to open the door saying, it’s far miss, my legs are sore!
Perfect first world problem! I think quietly, I will get the door!
In this profession, there’s real devotion, maybe some inspiration!
So your just staring into thin air, or looking at me thinking, watch how she speaks,
Or how she’s dressed today, or thinking about what’s going on in your lives!
believe me there are things going on in our lives too, but we shelve it in some corner
In our brains and chug along in life, and that’s what you’ve to learn to do!
Learn what I have to teach, not how I look or how I say it, or how I write it!
Hope I am modelling values, knowledge and skills that I’d like in the next generation
In this profession there’s real inspiration! Hope it’s conveyed to the next generation!
