There is a traditional practice of recitation of the whole Quran during Taraweeh prayers held in the fasting month of Ramadan, particularly in South Asian communities.
Although reading, recitation and listening of the Quran is itself a great virtue, the main purpose of the the Devine Message is to understand it and follow it in our daily life.
Muslims have increasingly become aware of learning classical Arabic, the language of the Quran in order to understand Quranic message first hand as well as offer their Salat prayers with understanding.
My father Dr Qazi Ashfaq Ahmad OAM throughout his life inspired us to understand the message of Quran and while at some initial stages when we conducted Taraweeh prayers at Dar-ul-Islam Musallah, initiated and provided a brief understanding of what was recited during Taraweeh on each day of Ramadan.
Inspired by this practice, I myself prepared Powerpoint summaries in English of the daily recitations for each day of Ramadan for two years in a row that I presented after Taraweeh prayers as well as shared via email with my large network of family and friends.
This task was formally taken up by Usaid Bhai at mosques managed by Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims (IFAM) where he would present a summary of recitations of the Quran on a daily basis after Taraweeh prayers every Ramadan.
This book “Pearls of Divine Guidance: A Concise Summary of Recitation of Daily Taraweeh Prayers” is based on the notes prepared by Usaid Bhai for his presentations after the Taraweeh prayers during the last few years.
Compiled now as a 400 page book divided into 27 chapters based on recitations of the Quran during the 27 days of Ramadan, Pearls of Divine Guidance will be a most useful resource for Muslims to use during the month of Ramadan on a daily basis in order to understand the recitations of the Quran during Taraweeh prayers.
Pearls of Divine Guidance is not a book of Tafseer or a comprehensive and complete explanation of the Quran, but an attempt to help those who listen to the entire Quran during the Taraweeh prayers in Ramadan and wish to understand what has been recited in order to get a glimpse of the Divine message in a structured manner.
The author of the book, Ustadh Usaid Khalil, currently the Secretary General of Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims (IFAM), has a long track record of working for Daawah in Australia for more than three decades, an Islamic activist, motivational speaker, Khateeb and Imam having gained valuable experience in working for the Islamic movement in Australia and abroad.
Pearls of Divine Guidance has been kindly edited by Sydney based revert Muslim, John Mahoney, formatted by Islamic Research Academy Karachi and published in 2023 by ILM Publication, an IFAM Project.
