The project to establish the Richmond Masjid is close to its 1st settlement after the fundraising target of $1.2 million achieved already with the first thanksgiving congregational prayers to be offered at the new mosque on Saturday 5 August 2023.

A project of Islamic Forum of Australian Muslims, the premises in northwest Sydney was used as a place of worship, a church that has been purchased with a highly successful campaign by IFAM members and generous donations by The Australian Muslim community.

The new mosque will play a vital role in serving the local community Richmond area (Hawkesbury Council) helping Muslim kids and future generations to learn, understand and practice Islam in a most hospitable environment.

With a growing number of Muslim families living in Sydney’s northwest, it is also important to make families and children attached to nearby masjids where they have ease of access and can form their bonding in order to fulfil their obligations as Muslims.

In order to successfully establish the Richmond Masjid, IFAM leadership with the help of their members and volunteers ran an aggressive campaign for community awareness of the need and fund raising to achieving their target within a few months.

Earlier, IFAM organised a highly successful and well attended  fundraising dinner on Sunday 18 June at “The Renaissance” in Lidcombe with almost 500 people attending the gathering and offering their support for the project raising almost $400,000 in pledges and payments.

The function was also attended by prominent community leaders including Sheikh Shadi Alsulaiman, Sheikh Bilal Dannoun and Haji Hussin Goss all the way from Gold Coast who appreciated IFAM for taking the important initiatives and motivated people to donate for the project.

With generosity all around the guests were served with delicious South Asian cuisine including Biryani, Qorma, Naan, and a sweet dish Kheer.
