|Patrick||To my Muslim sisters and brothers, Eid Mubarak!
My name is Patrick McInerney.
As Director of the Columban Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations,
I extend to you, your families, and the Muslim communities here in Australia and around the world, heart-felt greetings of peace and blessings on this feast of Eid al-Fitr.
|Kim||To my Muslim friends, Eid Mubarak.
I’m Kim Chong, the Media and Community Liaison at the Columban Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations.
It was only a year ago that I was celebrating Eid with you in large gatherings at the mosques and at the Multicultural Eid Festival & Fair. We could not have imagined a more different celebration this year due to COVID-19. Despite this year’s subdued occasion, I hope the blessings of God have nonetheless brought you peace in your heart. May we continue to extend a hand of friendship, if only virtually for now.
|Ryan||Eid Mubarak, Ryan Epondulan here.
Youth and Networking Coordinator of the Columban Centre of Christian-Muslim Relations and Coordinator of Youth PoWR.
To my Muslim brothers and sisters, during this pandemic, I have prayed for your safety and good health, along with everybody else. One thing the virus has taught us is that we are all connected.
|Patrick||I have been in solidarity with you during the month of Ramadan, in thoughts and prayers, in fasting through the day, and in having daily iftar in my home in the evening.
Now I am in solidarity with you in the joys of Eid.
|Kim||As a working mum, I can appreciate the juggle between work, family and the restraints of time. To my Muslim sisters, I hope you have found moments of prayer and reflection for yourselves and each other.|
|Ryan||We hope that out of such difficult times, we are able to find new ways and opportunities to connect with each other in the hope of greater friendships based on mutual understanding and respect.
To all youth, let us be beacons of hope. Let us not remain isolated but reach out utilising technology and creativity, to build community. Many blessings on this holy day. Eid Mubarak.
|Patrick||May the coronavirus pandemic be brought to an end very soon, in sha’ Allah, so that we can once again meet together in friendship and work together for a more united, kinder, gentler, more caring post-COVID-19 world.
