Smashhh Burgers in Underwood has gone from a local food truck to an award-winning success, taking home the Outstanding New Business Award at the 2025 Logan City Local Business Awards on 23 September 2025 in Queensland.

The win has cemented Smashhh as more than just a place to grab a burger — it’s a community hub that combines food, faith and heart.

Founded by former Western Sydney teacher Shafia Malak, Smashhh Burgers has quickly earned a reputation for its juicy, flavour-packed halal burgers served with plenty of energy and warmth. But for Shafia, the trophy is about more than taste.

“Logan has given so much to me and my family, and this is my way of giving back,” she says. “Through Smashhh Burgers, we’re creating jobs, offering a safe and welcoming space, and showing that business can be driven by purpose as much as profit.”

That purpose is visible in everything the Smashhh team does. The truck itself bursts with personality thanks to a vibrant mural painted by local artist Jordan (@_brightsiders).

Beyond the paint and patties, the team has championed causes close to home and abroad, running a “10 Days of Giving” Ramadan campaign that supported local and international causes and partnering with organisations like Islamic Relief, MATW and Merciful Servants.

Shafia sees this as a continuation of her life as a teacher, guiding, mentoring and uplifting others. Her faith, she says, reminds her that blessings grow when shared, and she has made that the heartbeat of her business.

Winning the Outstanding New Business Award is recognition of all of this: the food, the service, and the generosity woven through it. Smashhh Burgers has become a place where Logan locals can gather with pride, bite into something delicious, and feel part of a story bigger than themselves.
