Eid al-Adha is a celebration rooted in trust, sacrifice, and submission to Allah. As we honour the story of Prophet Ibrahim (as) and his willingness to give, we’re reminded that true faith is not just about what we offer, but how we manage what we’ve been given.
As families gather, Qurban is shared, and generosity flows, this moment of spiritual reflection also overlaps with something more practical: the End of Financial Year (EOFY). And together, they present a powerful opportunity – for both giving and growing responsibly.
A time to reflect—and reassess
While Eid calls us to care for others, the EOFY invites us to take stock of our own journey:
-
Have we managed our wealth with care and intention?
-
Are we spending with balance – meeting today’s needs without neglecting tomorrow’s?
-
Are our savings, superannuation, or investments aligned with our values?
This season is not just about ticking off tax returns or meeting deadlines—it’s a time to step back and realign. To check if our financial choices reflect the same faith and discipline we show in our worship.
The wisdom of balance
Eid al-Adha teaches that sacrifice isn’t loss – it’s discipline, purpose, and trust. And that same wisdom applies to our financial lives. Saying no to overspending, saying yes to halal investments, delaying immediate gratification for long-term peace of mind – these are sacrifices too. And they matter.
EOFY also brings the chance to make meaningful decisions:
-
Finalising charitable contributions (zakat or tax-deductible donations)
-
Reviewing super and ensuring it’s halal-compliant
-
Setting goals for the new financial year—whether that’s saving for Hajj, securing your children’s education, or simply building a riba-free future
From celebration to intention
This Eid, give with joy. Celebrate fully. But also take a moment to plan intentionally. Because when our faith and finances align, the result isn’t just security—it’s serenity.
Eid Mubarak. May your sacrifice be accepted, your intentions be fulfilled, and your financial journey bring peace of mind in both dunya and akhirah.
