The Moving Forward Together Association was established in 2005, with its name reflecting its purpose to unite people.

Sadly, we are facing several current issues that are creating division and we risk losing track. This is causing some people to become overwhelmed as they are getting dragged down since they see only the negatives.

We should appreciate the positives that we are living in a country that provides effective social services.

Naturally, not everybody need can be satisfied although we handled the pandemic, the floods and bushfires pretty well.

With a new Federal and State Government in place, let’s give them a fair chance, instead of complaining.

Recently, our organisation received over 4,000 entries to our Harmony Day Poster, Songwriting and Short Film competitions, some brilliant and powerful.

The theme was ‘Living in Harmony’. The Minister of Multiculturalism, The Hon Steve Kamper, together with Shadow Minister, Mark Coure, hosted the Prize Giving ceremony in NSW Parliament.

We also had a successful outreach launch of our ‘STOP RACISM NOW’ campaign, presented by NSW Premier, The Hon Chris Minns.

This project is more important than ever right now, as we witness the steep rise of racism leading to extremism.

Our vision statement is as follows; Respect and dignify people regardless of colour, race, religion or gender – thereby avoiding discrimination, stereotyping or branding.

LOOK AT THE INDIVIDUAL – most people are decent human beings. Empathy and understanding are needed for those who are struggling – they need our support.

It is important that we try to find solutions to issues emerging within our communities – to look for the light at the end of tunnel.

I believe that if we can appreciate the positives, we can navigate the obstacles better.
