Mr Mahomed Farouk Adam has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for his exceptional service to the Muslim community of Queensland.
Mr Adam has been a pillar of strength and leadership across numerous community, charitable, and interfaith platforms for over two decades. His current roles include Vice President of Queensland Muslims Inc and Director of the Brisbane Islamic Centre.
He is also a founding member and director of the Muslim Charitable Foundation (established 2008), and a Trustee of Slacks Creek Mosque since 2015.
His dedication to community welfare and social cohesion has seen him serve as a committee member at Kuraby Mosque since 2002 and a member of Crescents of Brisbane for over a decade.
Mr Adam’s interfaith and civic engagement has included long-standing service as a Justice of the Peace, a member of the Rotary Club of Archerfield, and a representative on the Lord Mayor’s Multicultural Round Table.
In the business sphere, Mr Adam is Director of Shelving and Shop Displays and has led the Muslim Business Network as President since 2009. His commitment to ethical business leadership and empowerment of Muslim professionals is widely respected.
He has been previously recognised with several honours, including the Lord Mayor’s Australia Day Achievement Award (2022), Community Service Award (2012), and the Ebrahim Patel/Crescents of Brisbane Special Achievement Award (2011).
In my capacity as President of Queensland Muslims Inc, I am proud to have Mr Adam serve as our Vice President. I have had the privilege of working alongside him previously when he served as my Vice President during our time together at the Islamic Council of Queensland.
His humility, tireless dedication, and deep community spirit have made him a role model for me.
The awarding of the OAM is a fitting recognition of Mr Adam’s lifelong dedication to fostering unity, compassion, and service.
On behalf of the Board and members of Queensland Muslims Inc, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and pray for his continued good health and ongoing service to the community.
