The Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation (CISAC), CSU held its much-anticipated 2025 Graduation Ceremony on Saturday 3 May at the Waterview Bicentennial Park that brought together distinguished guests, proud families and accomplished graduates to honour a significant milestone in Islamic academic pursuit.
The formal program was commenced by the MC, Ahmet Ozturk after the entry of the academic procession followed by the national anthem and passionate recitation of Quran by Annas Hussein Agha.
During his welcome address, Professor Mehmet Ozalp expressed pride in the accomplishments of the students and highlighted the ongoing vision of CISAC to cultivate well-rounded graduates who can engage with the world through an Islamic worldview.
The keynote speaker, Abdul Hadi Shah-Idil, brought inspiration and insight to the gathering.
A respected educator, imam and teacher of Arabic at CISAC, his address bridged classical Islamic thought with modern-day relevance, reminding the audience of the importance of grounding contemporary issues with traditional knowledge.
This year, CISAC proudly celebrated the achievements of 79 graduates across a wide range of programs—from Undergraduate Certificates to Doctorates.
Among the graduates were 36 students who completed the Bachelor of Islamic Studies, 16 who earned the Graduate Certificate in Islamic Psychology, six who graduated with a Master of Classical Arabic, and another six who received the Master of Islamic Studies.
The ceremony also celebrated two doctoral candidates who were awarded the highest academic honour, the Doctor of Philosophy: Dr Ikramullah Ahmed and Dr Carol Mroue.

Each graduate was individually recognised, receiving their awards from Professor Andrew Hope, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Professor Renée Leon.
The ceremony concluded with speeches from Professor Leon, Professor Hope, and Associate Professor Zuleyha Keskin, Associate Head of School, who collectively encouraged graduates to continue their pursuit of knowledge and to contribute positively to society.
The event ended with a moment of heartfelt appreciation where the graduates stood to applaud their teachers, families and peers, acknowledging the support that carried them through their successful academic journeys.
The 2025 CISAC Graduation was not only a milestone but it was a declaration of commitment to lifelong learning, the pursuit of knowledge grounded in faith, and a brighter future shaped by informed, compassionate individuals serving the community and the country.
