On Monday 18 September Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed he has credible information linking India to the killing of prominent Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada last June.
This comes in the wake of several assassinations in various countries of Sikh activists, supporters of the Khalistan movement advocating for a homeland for Sikhs in North India.
The Canadian Prime Minister informed the Parliament that Canadian intelligence agencies have been looking into the allegations after Nijjar, a strong supporter of Khalistan, was gunned down on 18 June outside a Sikh cultural center in Surrey, British Columbia.
Following the allegations, two Sikh community groups in Canada, the British Columbia Gurdwaras Council and Ontario Gurdwaras Committee have urged the Canadian government to “immediately suspend all intelligence, investigative and prosecutorial cooperation with India.
The head of Indian intelligence in Canada, with alleged strong ties with the Hindu militant organization RSS, has been expelled. If proven, this would be an extraordinary violation of Canadian sovereignty and the most basic rule of how countries deal with each other.
Following the Kashmiris and Indian Muslims in general, Sikhs are now considered the new anti-national targets by Hindu nationalists and its militant arm, the RSS, many of whose cadres now occupy top positions in the BJP government and possibly the Indian intelligence, RAW.
RAW has reportedly sought the Israeli intelligence agencies’ expertise in eliminating pro-Khalistan Sikhs and thereby crushing the Khalistan movement amongst the Sikh diaspora.
The open war between Khalistan supporters and the RAW has made the worldwide Sikh community an object of suspicion in the eyes of pro-Modi Indians.
The pro-Modi media has come up with a list of pro-Khalistan activists in Canada, implying that they are on the hit list of RAW with an open challenge and intimidation for Sikh activists. It includes the following:

Sikhs are in significant numbers in over 25 countries of the world. They believe in serving humanity and stand for equality, justice, and liberty. They suffered ethnic cleansing in 1984 when their holiest shrine came under attack by the Indian army after thousands of them got killed.

It is unfortunate that the Dr Aslam Abdullah chose to list the names and suburbs/counties of the Khalistan activists. I am sure that he had no ill intentions, but it is possible that lists of this nature that are published, can go in the wrong hands.
What use is it anyway, to have the names of these activists published in AMUST, and also for its readers to know which suburbs/counties in various countries, have Sikhs as the largest group? Here again, the information can be misused.
