The Australian Religious Alliance including leaders from Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu communities met NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns and key members of his team on Monday 4 April 2022 at an event hosted by the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) at UMA Centre in Padstow to discuss a number of common issues and priorities for NSW faith communities.

The issues discussed included religious discrimination, flood recovery efforts, chaplaincy, zoning for places of worship, COVID-19 pandemic response Education campaigns across multiple departments on religious symbols.

The opportunity for initiatives to address the safety and wellbeing of local communities, as well as enhanced representation within state government of faith communities were also discussed.

The Australian Religious Alliance put forward a proposal to Mr Chris Minns for the establishment of a representative group  such as a Religious Affairs Council that is part of a Ministerial Portfolio at a Cabinet level, in order to give the faith groups in NSW a united voice to the Government.
