Poet, lawyer and feminist Sara Mansour was a guest speaker at the Institute for the Study of Social Change (ISC)  on 1 August at the University of Tasmania, speaking about the future of feminism and diversity.

Sara is the founding board member of NOW Australia, a non-profit organisation focused on ending sexual harassment, intimidation and abuse in the workplace.

The organisation is working on its submission to the commission and is setting up systems and protocols and establishing partnerships for the purpose of instituting “holistic support to those suffering from sexual harassment.”

This would come about through a triage service, where sexual harassment and assault claims would be assessed and the claimant given assistance.

At present, there is no such service available in Australia, according to Mansour. She says NOW intends to fill the gap — and hopes the service will be able to provide media support, counselling and legal advice.
