The Gujarati Muslim Association of Australia (GMAA) hosted their vibrant and heartwarming annual Eid al-Adha event on Saturday 14 June 2025, in Granville.

The event brought together families, friends and community members for an afternoon packed with spiritual reflection and engaging activities.

One of the highlight moments of the event was the One Minute Speech Competition.

Youth were given a prompt on the spot related to themes such as family or significant Islamic events.

They had a short amount of time to prepare before presenting a one-minute speech to the audience.

The competition encouraged young people to think on their feet, speak with confidence and engage meaningfully with their Islamic values and the young participants rose to the challenge brilliantly!

The afternoon continued with the Asr prayer followed by lively and educational Kids Trivia where children participated enthusiastically, showing their knowledge on Islamic teachings and history in a fun and inclusive setting.

The little ones then took to the stage once again for a touching Kids Nasheed for Palestine, a heartfelt performance in solidarity with Palestine that resonated deeply with the audience.

In a powerful and unifying gesture, those attending were encouraged to dress in support of Palestine, standing in solidarity with those facing hardship and injustice.

This theme of purposeful pride was felt throughout the day which added a meaningful layer to the festivities.

The GMAA Eid al-Adha Event  was not just a celebration of a sacred holiday, but a demonstration of community togetherness, cultural pride and humanitarian awareness.

With its blend of worship, joy and purpose, the event beautifully captured the spirit of Eid which is a time of unity, compassion and collective resolve.
