Golfers will take to the fairways at Brighton Lakes Golf Course in Moorebank in Sydney’s west on Saturday 19 December, when the Lebanese Muslim Association and its charity Feed The World host the third annual Australian Muslim Community Golf Day, this year carrying the theme “Every Swing Counts.”
The tournament broke new ground in 2024, becoming Australia’s inaugural Muslim golf tournament.
That debut edition closed out with a highly successful community gala dinner at The Lakehouse, Brighton Lakes’ award-winning function venue the same night.
Further momentum built into 2025, when player registrations climbed by around 25 percent for the second tournament, under the banner “Chipping in for Change.”
With The Lakehouse unavailable for the Gala Dinner that year, organisers instead hosted a laid-back, post-round gathering and prize presentation in the course’s outdoor café.

Keen golfer and Golf Day committee member Ali Bassal.
But for 2026, The Lakehouse is back on the calendar, restoring the full sit-down gala experience for participants, supporters, community members and other special guests.
The golf itself will again follow the popular 4-Ball Ambrose format, with a 1:30PM ‘shotgun start’ preceded by Dhuhur prayer on the course.
This year’s “Every Swing Counts” theme captures exactly what the day is about – recognising that each golfer, each donation and each volunteer hour feeds into something much larger than a game of golf.
Brighton Lakes’ own team, headed by resident professional Kurt Stegbauer, remains a key partner, continuing to tailor both the course and dinner arrangements to suit the Muslim community’s needs.

The early buzz hasn’t gone unnoticed.
LMA Religious Affairs and Events Coordinator Salim Allouche pointed to the strength of early registrations as a sign of things to come, noting that the level of enthusiasm this far out is unlike anything the event has seen before – with The Lakehouse’s return only adding to the excitement heading into what he expects will be the biggest Golf Day yet.
Behind the scenes, the Golf Committee – comprising Mr Allouche alongside Ali Bassal, Nasser Nahlous, Dr Tarek Sari, Bill Chmeisse and your writer – is once again coordinating logistics, sponsors and volunteer support, building on groundwork laid since the Muslim community golf tournament concept was first floated in early to mid-2024.
Registration details can be found on the LMA’s socials.
