The Bluesky Multicultural Cricket Tournament 2026 concluded this summer at Parry Park, Lakemba, bringing together international students and alumni of South Asian origins and education providers from across Australia in a celebration of sport and community.

The tournament, now in its fourth year, was held on Sunday 25 January 2026, with semi-finals and the grand final played on Sunday 1 February 2026. The initiative is organised by Bluesky Immigration & Student Consultancy and was supported this year by Study NSW.

The event was founded by Sydney-based entrepreneur Mr Shayaz Khan, CEO of Bluesky Immigration & Student Consultancy, with the aim of creating a platform where students can compete, connect and build professional networks.

“Sport is one of the strongest ways to bring people together,” Mr Khan said. “Our goal is to provide students with opportunities to grow in confidence and form meaningful connections beyond their studies.”

The 2026 tournament was managed by Mr Naveed Mohammed of Sydney Leads Digital Marketing, serving as Tournament Manager, alongside Khabeer Khateeb and Mudabbir Hussain. The organising team coordinated logistics, institutional participation and on-ground delivery across multiple match days.

Twelve teams participated, representing institutions including Astra Institute of Higher Education, Charles Darwin University, Victoria University, Charles Sturt University, Canterbury Institute of Management, APIC, AEI, Study & Work, Apsley College, Macallan College, KOI and Bluesky Riders.

Following the group stage, four teams progressed to the semi-finals. The final was played at approximately 12.30 pm between Astra Institute of Higher Education and Macallan College. Under mild weather conditions with light drizzles, Macallan College secured the championship title.

The event created a festival-like atmosphere, with live scoring, commentary, photography and cultural music performances throughout the day. Lunch was served between 1 pm and 4 pm for players and spectators.

The award ceremony commenced at approximately 4.15 pm and was hosted by Ms Megha Katyal. Distinguished guests included Mayor Benjamin Cai, Cr Moninder Singh, Clr Immanuel Selvaraj and Clr Khodr Saleh.

The tournament continues to grow as a community platform that connects sport, education and multicultural engagement within Sydney’s international student community.
