The ceremony signified another pivotal step in the LMA’s 63 years of dedicated service to culturally diverse and faith‑based communities across Australia.

Prominent features early in the ceremony included the traditional Welcome To Country followed by an Acknowledgement of Country.

Khal Asfour then delivered the CEO’s address, reflecting on the LMA’s journey, future vision and the collaborative efforts of the board and staff.

Association Vice President and prominent Liverpool community member Raed Halabi commented: “The LMA recognises the vital need for representation in the Liverpool area as our community now resides here in vast numbers. Exciting times are ahead, definitely.”

LMA Executive Manager Nicole Morell addresses the gathering.

LMA Executive Manager Nicole Morell delivered a powerful endorsement during the ceremony, stating:  “The LMA Social Service Department will be a vital resource for young people and communities in Liverpool and beyond – providing practical help, emotional support and pathways to stability, dignity and empowerment.”

LMA President Hafez Alameddine and his board and CEO Khal Asfour received high praise for their instrumental roles in bringing the Social Services department to life, as did the Department of Home Affairs

Central to the proceedings was the unveiling of the Youth Transition Support (YTS) Program aimed at humanitarian entrants and newly arrived migrants, aged 15 to 25.

The program offers assistance in employment, education, vocational pathways, social inclusion and cultural integration.

Aly Mashaly, one of the program’s participants from Egypt, shared a heartfelt testimonial about how the initiative supported his settlement journey – helping him acquire life skills and meaningful community connections and ultimately gaining employment as a barista.
