The Lebanese Muslim Association has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community following the announcement of its inaugural “Australian Muslim Community Golf Tournament,” scheduled for Saturday, 14 December, at the Brighton Lakes Golf Course at Moorebank in southwest Sydney.
Hosted by the LMA’s charity arm, Feed The World, the event has drawn significant attention as Australia’s first-ever Muslim golf tournament.
The tournament is open to males aged 18 and over and with registrations steadily increasing, spaces are filling quickly.
Teams of four can register for $400, or individual players (who will be placed into teams by the organisers) for $100, with entry fees covering green fees and the use of a golf cart.
LMA Religious Affairs Coordinator Salim Allouche expressed his optimism about the tournament’s success.
“We are seeing entries rolling in, and we are confident of reaching our target of 100 to 120 players,” Mr Allouche told AMUST.

“This is shaping up to be an exceptional day/night, not only with the golf tournament but also the gala dinner to follow in the evening.”
“We have also received a lot of interest from sponsors, but there are still limited sponsorships available for $2,000 per hole.”
The tournament will feature a 4-Ball Ambrose format, beginning with a shotgun start at 1:30 PM.
Known for its pristine greens and challenging layout, Brighton Lakes Golf Course (see main photo) offers the ideal setting for what is set to be a memorable day.
Following the tournament, a gala dinner will be held at Brighton Lakes’ award-winning function centre The Lakehouse.
The dinner, which is open to all community members (men and women), not just golf tournament participants, will feature Middle Eastern halal cuisine, a charity auction and an awards ceremony.
Tickets for the gala dinner are priced at $100 per person.
Prizemoney breakdown for the golf tournament is: $500 per player for first place, $350 per player for second place, and $250 per player for third place.

Additional prizes will be awarded for the longest drive and nearest the pin at specified holes, as well as any hole(s)-in-one.
The game of golf provides a unique blend of physical activity and mental focus.
It’s an activity which encourages patience, discipline and concentration – qualities that align with our values of personal and spiritual growth.
The momentum behind the event is largely due to the efforts of the LMA Golf Committee, which has been working behind the scenes for several months.
A special thank you goes to this writer’s fellow Golf Committee members – Dr Tarek Sari and Brothers Ali Bassal, Nasser Nahlous, Bill Chmeisse and Salim Allouche – their dedication has been instrumental in bringing the tournament to life.
The Brighton Lakes team, led by resident professional Kurt Stegbauer, has also been a key partner, providing invaluable support for both the golf event and the gala dinner and showing great understanding and respect in catering for our needs as Muslims.
For those interested in participating, both team and individual registrations are still open, but spots are filling fast.
Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to enjoy a day of golf while contributing to a great cause, with all proceeds going to Feed The World.
