In a world where career choices can shape the trajectory of young lives, the Career Expo held recently at Al Taqwah College, Truganina, Melbourne, Victoria on Tuesday 3 September 2024, stood out as a beacon of opportunity and guidance.

Organised by the Australian Community Development Program (ACDP), this event showcased a myriad of career paths available within the public sector, fostering connections between students, parents, and industry professionals.

The expo provided an excellent platform for ACDP to engage directly with school students, staff, and parents, illustrating the diverse career opportunities that lie ahead. Both parents and students were impressed with the meticulously researched data presented, which revealed an exciting array of career possibilities. This is vital in a society where informed choices can lead to fulfilling and successful futures.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was the opportunity for one-on-one conversations with students. These interactions were not just about presenting information; they provided insights into the aspirations of young individuals, allowing ACDP to tailor its guidance to their specific interests.

Students left with newfound knowledge about a range of esteemed professions, particularly within the public services sector, designed for high school students eager to make informed decisions about their futures.

The enthusiasm generated by the expo was evident, as a substantial number of students enrolled with ACDP, demonstrating a strong eagerness to gain additional information and guidance on job applications.

This highlights the pressing need for structured support for high school students, undergraduates, and skilled migrants who often find themselves trapped in monotonous job cycles. ACDP is poised to address this gap, offering comprehensive support that goes beyond simple job application assistance.

Our services encompass everything from crafting impactful cover letters to mastering interview techniques. ACDP’s approach is rooted in mentorship, providing valuable guidance and coaching to those seeking substantial transformations in their professional and personal lives.

We believe in imparting knowledge and skills for sustainable success—teaching individuals how to fish rather than merely providing them with a metaphorical catch.

In our quest to empower the community, ACDP has established direct channels of communication with organisations such as Vic Police, the Paramedics team, and AIMA, as well as valuable connections with Al Taqwa Management.

Key interactions with youth services and corrections departments, alongside fruitful discussions with the Islamic Society of RMIT (ISR) and Monash University Islamic Society (MUIS), enriched the expo’s impact and broadened our network.

Looking ahead, ACDP remains dedicated to conducting more events and workshops, aiming to reach out to communities throughout Australia. By empowering individuals with valuable information, guidance, and resources, ACDP strives to create a brighter future. Our mission is to build smarter, stronger, safer, and successful communities, one empowered individual at a time.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the management of Al Taqwa College Founder/principal Omar Hallak, Vice principal – Mohammad Hallak, Career coach Sister Zuhre Koyu & Br Hamdi Koyu for their collaboration in making the Career Expo a huge success.

This partnership exemplifies the spirit of inclusivity and community building that ACDP stands for. A special thanks to Sister Nilufer Kurtuldu and Brother Areeb Rahman, for their unwavering support of this vital cause.
