It all falls into place when you start looking at life from God’s perspective. Here is how I can express finding a handle on my life when I had misplaced it…
When the people of Pharoh pursued the companions of Prophet Moses (a) (Israelites whom Moses had rsecued) got terrified and said, “Surely we are overtaken!” (Quran26:61)
To which Moses (a) replied: “Never! Indeed with me is my Lord and He will guide me”. (Quran 26:62)
Through these beautiful words, God wants to reassure us that it is only human to feel overwhelmed by troubles, enemies (hidden & apparent), and calamities. Having the company of Moses (a) in trying times was a source of solace but only to a certain extent.
This also points toward the fact that when faced with trials, although there are varied sources of comfort by our side, the real power and propensity lies with God .. to pull us out of a dungeon, save us from drowning, or shield us from venomous bites, all so figuratively speaking.
The next verse is when God reveals to Moses (a): “Strike the sea with your staff!” (Quran 26:63) and so he does as directed and the sea is severed apart and water stood like a mountain on their left and on their right.
Now imagine the scenario when the whole army of Pharoh, his chariots, and the horsemen have almost reached the sea in fact brought into what looks like a winning situation for them but, effectually, is a trap set by God to deprive Pharoh and his people of the luxuries they once enjoyed by expelling them from their land.
Because God, in His infinite wisdom, made Pharoh take a decision that ultimately caused his own destruction and guided Moses (a) and his people to pursue a path that led them to success.
There is solace in knowing that no matter how grave a situation looks or how awful the predicament one is faced with, there’s always a way out for those who fear Him, call unto Him and trust Him over material resources.
Apparently, all Moses (a) had was relentless faith in God (immaterial in nature) and a staff (material) -that too was made to deliver a miracle only by the decree of God alone.
Think of Pharoh drowning with all the cavalry because he transgressed, he denied. He thought he could make it ‘on his own.
Many times we are surrounded by what constricts our chest out of pain and fear but if within the recesses of our heart there is belief in what God can do is more in magnitude than the challenges in life, then for sure help is near.
The resources, the efforts, and the abilities that are normally perceived as futile are made to do wonders by the will of God. The catch is, the same resources if perceived as the ultimate savior, are destined to fail us when we need them most.
Because God is the ultimate refuge and He makes the impossible possible for those who rely upon Him and place their trust where it truly should be placed.
