The Afghan community and representatives from government, police and community leaders attended the Afghan Refugee Youth Achievement Awards “ARYA Awards” on 8 December 2017 at Campbelton Civic Hall. Many young people from the Afghan community were recognised for their outstanding achievements in six categories including Education, Human Rights, Sports, Business Enterprise, Community, and Volunteering

“The awards ceremony is the first ever Afghan awards that brings together all Afghan communities in Sydney. The objective of ARYA Awards is to recognize the potential within and motivate the youth to be active citizens in Australia” said Sayed Rahmatullah Hussainizada. 

The Afghan Refugee Youth Achievement Awards (ARYAA) event organised by the Afghan Fajar Association Inc (AFAIC), was created to acknowledge the success and achievements of young people in the Afghan Community In Sydney.

Through these awards, AFAIC seeks to build the self-confidence of these young people and empower them to continue their roles as trail blazers and change makers, contributing positively to our society.
