HOW DOES IT WORK?
Youth PoWR (Parliament of the World’s Religions) will see young people deliver a message to their civic & religious leaders on a topic of common concern; a more compassionate and just society.

Five proposals, in order of importance, will be finalised for presentations to politicians at NSW Parliament House. Then, presentations of the message and another five proposals will be made to various religious peak organisations e.g. the Hindu, Buddhist & Sikh Councils of Australia.

Issues will include discrimination, refugees, mental health, Indigenous rights, climate change, gender equality, global poverty and more. Motions will be voted on by all those attending Youth PoWR to spotlight which issues are most important to young Australians of faith, and which actions they want to see achieved.

In a final session, all attendees will meet in mixed groups and develop their own commitments for creating a more compassionate and just society. These will be collated into a statement addressed to their peers inviting them to commit to the same or similar actions.

Youth PoWR will not only give young people a platform to have their voice heard by Australia’s governments and religious leaders, but also see them be a living model of harmony to the rest of the world.
