Beating the drums of war: But what do we know about Iran?

The world is standing yet again on the brink of war. The President of the United States and his cronies now seems intent on attacking Iran and it seems that Australia is again most willing to join the coalition of the willing to wage the war on yet another country. We may well ask, “Why? What has Iran done to the US that has placed it firmly in its sites?” Perhaps it has more to do with the President’s “friends” who seem to be a contentious lot. Saudi Arabia’s voice has blended with Israel’s and those of the Gulf...

Terrorism: non-Islamic and non-negotiable

During this past month the world has witnessed yet another terror attack in Europe, this time in Berlin when 12 people were killed and 50 injured as a truck was intentionally driven into a crowded market place.    That the attacker, a radicalised Muslim, was later shot and killed in Milan, Italy, brings no comfort to those who have been the victims of this so-called “relentless war of ‘Islamist’ terrorism.” Sadly there has been political fall-out for Angela Merkel whose immigration policy bravely accepted Europe’s largest number of refugees on humanitarian grounds.  This latest action has therefore created more...

Euthanasia’s silent inroads

This past week has seen, yet again, another challenge on behalf of those fighting for Euthanasia to be legalized in Australia.  As in previous cases it was rejected.  However this is not the end of a story which has been presented time and again with great persistence. Euthanasia, or “Mercy killing”, is not something new.  It was prevalent in ancient times and thought to be the reason why the Hippocratic Oath expressly forbids doctors killing or assisting in the killing of their patients.  Interestingly, up until 1642 the word “suicide” did not exist being described as Self murder. Religiously,...

Democracy and the Muslim woman’s dress code

Debate has for some time been raging worldwide, and questions are again being asked about Muslim women’s attire.   In many cases we Western women who wear Muslim attire are seen to be, at the very least, creatures living under male oppression; and at the worst, ungrateful to our host nation for not taking up its culture of dress. Many critics are completely unaware of the reasons for our choice of clothing, and due to a political and media push, in most cases have fallen into the trap of trying to align it to male-dominated customs. Therefore, coming from...

Allah, the God of all or for Muslims only

How often do you see the crossword question: God of the Muslims)?   The correct answer as far as the Crossworders go is “Allah”.   If we are being pedantic, in essence the answer to the question is true; Allah is worshipped by Muslims.  However, the inference is that Allah is God of Muslims alone, and for those with knowledge this is not the truth of the matter. If you were to go to a Muslim and ask this question his answer would be along these lines: “Allah, whilst being The God Whom we Muslims worship, is also The God...
