Mosque-based rooted in Islamic faith and culturally appropriate Mental Health Workshop
This October 2026, to coincide with Mental Health Week in Australia and World Mental Health day, the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA) will launch Mindsavers, a free, interactive mental health workshop designed for Muslim communities.
This workshop will run at mosques around Australia, led by members of AIMA (healthcare professionals).
AIMA Mindsavers was developed in understanding the barriers many Muslims face in looking after their mental health, including stigma, limited access to culturally aligned care, and the lack of faith-based coping approaches in mainstream services.
It treats faith as both a preventive and a healing resource. It is designed in raising mental health awareness, reducing stigma, improving literacy and accessibility to mental health services.
What the workshop covers
Attendees will learn why mental health matters, how to recognise signs of poor mental health, practical ways to maintain and improve wellbeing, and how to support others and access help.
The workshop also includes small group activities where participants will practice simple wellbeing techniques such as guided breathing, sujood grounding, gratitude journaling and goal setting.
Participants will also be able to ask questions on mental health to the AIMA Mindsavers team.
Workshop locations and dates will be announced on the AIMA website at www.aima.org.au/mindsavers
