As I reflect on five years of ForceDeFem, I can honestly say that this year’s Melbourne event, held on Sunday 17 May at La Belle Venue, Somerton felt different. What started as a small gathering of women supporting one another in business and life has now grown into a movement focused on empowerment, education and real community impact.

This year’s theme, Financial Literacy and The Great Gatsby, was deeply intentional. While the Gatsby theme represented elegance, legacy and “old money” values, the true message behind the night was much bigger.

I strongly believe financial literacy is one of the keys to building safer homes, healthier communities and stronger futures for both women and families. Financial independence gives people options, confidence and stability, and these conversations are more important now than ever before.

Throughout the evening, we were privileged to hear from incredible business leaders and professionals who shared their knowledge and experiences with our guests. Our major partner, Mecca Property Group, led by Abdallah Nouh and his team, played a huge role in the success of the event. Their insights into building wealth through property and long-term investment strategies gave attendees practical and valuable knowledge on creating generational wealth.

We were also honoured to have the support of organisations including Salaam and Hanan Accounting, alongside many other sponsors and supporters who believe in the vision and purpose behind ForceDeFem.

However, beyond the glamour, networking and conversations around business, the night carried an even greater purpose. In partnership with Humanitarian Collective, we were able to raise close to $20,000 towards helping build Australia’s first faith-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.

For me personally, this initiative is incredibly important. Addiction impacts families and communities in ways many people do not see publicly, and creating a rehabilitation space grounded in faith, healing and community support is something I believe will change lives for generations to come.

Over the last five years, ForceDeFem has continued to evolve beyond what I initially imagined. From Melbourne to international events, the platform has become a place where women can connect, learn, collaborate and support causes bigger than themselves.

Now, we look ahead to our next chapter. On August 9, ForceDeFem will arrive in Sydney for what I believe will be our biggest and most impactful event yet. Sydney will not only continue the conversation around financial literacy and empowerment, but will also expand our fundraising efforts and community reach even further.

This journey has never just been about events. It has always been about creating spaces where knowledge, empowerment and purpose come together to inspire real change.
