As we approach 2026, a new Gregorian calendar year, we may benefit from taking a pause from our daily consumption of noises, voices, opinions, and actually sit with our feelings.
Let us sit with the grief, sorrow, pain, hurt, disbelief in the blatantly committed heinous and horrific acts that are obliterating entire ethnicities and how numbness to these graphic visuals is slowly eating us all up from the core of our beings.
Here are a few ways to quietly reflect on your thoughts, words, and deeds and reflect on how to re-set ourselves so that we may resume our lives with a clearer mind, healthier body, and restored spirit. Faith is all we have.

| 4 | Reflect on those times when you acted unkindly towards another? How would you correct your error?

| 6 | Recall those moments when Allah placed you in someone’s life to help them. Who was it? A friend? Relative? Colleague? Stranger? How did you feel about being of service to them?
| 7 | Which specific ayats or surahs from the Holy Quran have affected you in the way you think, speak, and act? Reflect on the profound impact of them on you.
| 8 | Who are the not-yet-Muslims in your life that you spend time with? How do you display Islam to them in your choice of thoughts, words, and deeds?
| 9 | What circumstances and people in your life pose the biggest challenge in your practice of sabr (patience)? What can you do to practice more patience in your life?
| 10 | Who are the people you are struggling to forgive? Why do you remain attached to the pain of their deeds? What can you do right now to start the process of forgiveness of them?
| 11 | Who are the people you are struggling to seek forgiveness from? Why do you remain attached to your ego? What can you do right now to start the process of attempting to seek forgiveness from those people?
| 12 | If you were living in a place where openly displaying one’s faith was forbidden, what would you do to guard your emaan, faith in Allah, and continue to be a faithful servant of Allah?
