The 2024 olive harvest in Palestine was marred by intensifying settler violence. Despite this, Palestinian farmers and producers prevailed to share their healthy and delicious products with the world.
The UN documented 250 settler-related incidents, including a woman killed by an Israeli soldier while harvesting olives. More than 2,800 trees were burned or vandalised, and crops and harvesting tools were stolen.
That’s why it’s especially meaningful that organic, fair trade, extra virgin olive oil from Al-Reef Fair Trade and Al-Ard Agricultural Company has recently arrived in Australia.
It’s available through Palestine Fair Trade Australia, a non-profit social enterprise and registered charity. Olive oil products including Nablus soaps and crushed olive dips are also available.
Olives are the largest single agricultural product in the West Bank and a crucial source of income for Palestinians. Fair trade means the farmer is paid a fair price so families can make a decent living and give back to their communities.
Every purchase supports Palestinian farmers and communities to keep their heritage alive.
