On the auspicious occasion of Pakistan Day, the Consulate General of Pakistan, Sydney, organised a flag hoisting ceremony at the Granville Community Centre on Saturday 23rd March 2024. The event aimed to commemorate the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940, which laid the foundation for Pakistan’s independence.

The ceremony commenced promptly at 11:00 am with the arrival of esteemed guests who graced the occasion with their presence. Following the opening, a recitation from the Holy Quran set a solemn tone, followed by a captivating documentary and patriotic melodies (Milli Naghma).

Mr Qamar Zaman, the incoming Consul General, delivered insightful remarks, highlighting the significance of Pakistan Day and the aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous future. The culmination of the event saw the unfurling of the national flag accompanied by the stirring rendition of the national anthem.

A collective spirit prevailed as attendees, including several Pakistani families from Sydney, gathered for a group photo, capturing the essence of unity and patriotism. The ceremony concluded on a high note, symbolising the enduring commitment to the ideals envisioned by the nation’s founding fathers.
