The Al-Azhar project, administered by the LMA, offers a distinctive educational opportunity for both full-time and part-time students of Shariah to acquire a much sought after Azhari College degree.
This program, conducted in collaboration with the Azhar branch in Lebanon and accredited by the renowned Al-Azhar University in Egypt (featured in main photo), provides a platform for students to delve deeper into the study of Islamic jurisprudence.

Reflecting on the inaugural year in 2023, Sheikh Yahya Safi, the Chairman of the College and also the Imam of Lakemba Mosque, said: “We were more than satisfied with last year’s enrolment, given that it was the first year – 40 students successfully completed their Year 1 studies. “
“We anticipate these students all returning for Year 2 which will be hosted within a newly renovated area of the LMA complex in Lakemba (in Sydney’s southwest).”
During the holy month of Ramadan, registrations will open for prospective Year 1 and Year 2 candidates, and both in person and online study options will be available.
The teaching faculty, comprising eight distinguished educators, boasts a high level of expertise in the field, with notable figures including Sheikh Safi and Sheikh Wesam Charkawi, the College Principal, heading the academic roster.
