Palestinians have endured immense suffering over the last 75 years, not solely due to occupation, but also because of the incompetence of their leaders, betrayal by leaders in Muslim-majority countries and double standards practiced by the Western governments.
Despite these challenges, they have they managed to persevere, resist and displayed great resilience due to their unwavering faith, particularly their profound belief in Allah and their trust in Him.
They have never lost hope.
According to Al-Ghazali (died 1111), faith in Divine Unity and trust in Divine Providence lead to happiness and satisfaction, even during the most difficult times.
Said Nursi (died 1960) argues that belief in God profoundly impacts humanity’s spiritual well-being and happiness. He asserts that the highest purpose of creation is the belief in God and that the ultimate achievement for humans is the knowledge of God, rooted in this belief.
Love for God, embedded within the knowledge of Him, is described as the source of unparalleled happiness for both jinn and humans.
Whoever gains marifatullah, which means comprehending and knowing the existence, unity, attributes, names, wisdom, and purposes of The Creator through His creations, can challenge the whole world.
It is suggested that those who possess knowledge of and love for God are open to receiving endless blessings, happiness, illumination, and mysteries.
In contrast, individuals who lack this connection with God are portrayed as experiencing spiritual and material misery, pain, and fear. Even if such individuals were to possess great worldly wealth, it would ultimately be meaningless in the absence of a relationship with God.
The foundation of faith is tawhid, summarised in the phrase, “There is no god but Allah.” Allah is the source of refuge and strength for the human spirit, offering access to a treasury of divine mercy to fulfill all needs.
Tawhid introduces the spirit to its Creator and the True Object of Worship, providing it with a sense of support and security. By doing so, this phrase rescues the heart from desolation and the spirit from sorrow, ensuring perpetual happiness and eternal joy.
Tawhid offers solace to the human spirit and heart, which often find themselves entangled with the complexities and distractions of the world.
It serves as a refuge and protector from confusion and bewilderment.
In essence, the phrase reassures humans that God’s oneness is the key to all things and that turning to Him is the solution to all problems. By recognising God’s unity, one is liberated from feelings of indebtedness, fear, and confusion, as God is portrayed as the ultimate source of guidance and resolution for all concerns.
Nursi argues “Not knowing one’s Creator and True Object of Worship leaves a person spiritually and existentially adrift in a confusing and transient world. In this state of spiritual destitution, life may seem devoid of meaning and purpose.”
However, when one discovers and knows God, it offers refuge in His mercy and trust in His power. The previously desolate world is transformed into a place of recreation and pleasure, and life becomes an opportunity to invest in the hereafter.
In summary, the significance of belief in God by invoking “La ilaha illallah” impacts human well-being and happiness. The knowledge of God and the love of God are depicted as essential components of a fulfilling life, providing purpose and refuge in a complex and uncertain world.
The two key phrases, “There is no god but God” and “He is One,” are presented as profound affirmations that offer spiritual guidance and reassurance to those who embrace them.
Let’s conclude with the saying of Said Nursi: “Whoever knows and obeys Him is happy even if he is in prison. Whoever forgets Him is in a dungeon, miserable, even if they live in a palace.”
The Palestinians have been in open air prisons for decades as many argue but their hearts travel in Paradise. However, those their eyes are blind to spirituality can not understand.
Palestinians have no helpers but only their faith. Lets pray for peace for every corner of the world.
