Gainpeace Australia (GPA), a project of Islamic Circle of Australia and New Zealand (iCAN), organised a Mosque Open Day in Rooty Hill Mosque on 28 May 2023 to highlight the real image of Islam and Muslims and create a harmonized conducive environment for interaction between different faiths and communities.

The Rooty Hill Mosque opened its doors to people of different backgrounds and faiths where large number of families and individuals from different walks of life attended.

Members of the local church also visited the mosque to promote interfaith harmony. Mr Edmond Atalla, Member of the Legislative Assembly of NSW from Blacktown was one of  the esteemed guests.

The attendees gained insight into the different activities of the mosque and Muslims. They were briefed on the pillars of Islamic faith, its history and the role and services of Muslim women in the society.

The guests enjoyed complimentary food, gifts and giveaways, virtual trip to pre-Islamic Mecca through an immersive VR experience, calligraphy, face painting, jumping castles, hijabs, henna and a lot more.

It was a great event that provided an opportunity for everyone to gain a better understanding towards Islam and Muslims and bridge the gaps between the different faiths and communities.
