AMUST marked its 7th year of publication by holding a highly successful International Webinar titled “One Voice for One Ummah” on Sunday 19 July 2020, addressed by a diverse global panel of speakers and attended by a world-wide audience, in order to reach out and collaborate with similar community media efforts as well as launch three new services namely AMUST International magazine, AMUST TV and AMUST Global network.
The aim of the webinar was to link the community based Muslim Media initiatives to learn from each other, cooperate and strengthen each other’s efforts by credible communication and sharing of expertise, skills and rich experience.
The webinar showcased a diverse group of speakers, journalists and thinkers from a number of countries who presented their ideas in brief reflections and then took part in a live Q&A session tackling questions from an international audience.
AMUST is multicultural multimedia news platform, originally established in January 1991 and then restarted in July 2014, run by Seena Incorporated, a not for profit organisation from Sydney, Australia.
Currently AMUST is a community based media platform largely catering for Australia & New Zealand region, but now aims to broaden its horizon further to include global issues and strengthen its world wide reach.

The Webinar was MC’d by Mobinah Ahmad and stated with recitation of Quran by Dr Hafiz Mohammad Waliullah Bokhari. One of the speakers Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid sent a recorded speech while two scheduled panelists Gulhan Eryegit Yoldas, a Melbourne based AMUST columnist and Sikander Azam, Editor of Radiance ViewsWeekly based in New Delhi, India could not participate due to health reasons.

Mobinah Ahmad based in Sydney, Australia is currently the honorary Managing Editor of AMUST and works as the NSW Executive Officer of The Australia Arab Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
She has a well-rounded education having obtained International Baccalaureate and then BA, BSc and Masters in Digital Communication from the University of Sydney.
She has worked as a photographer and movie maker and has appeared on TV shows and documentaries having developed a diverse social community network.
Dr Hafiz Mohammad Waliullah Bokhari, Member Seena Inc, Sydney, Australia
Dr Hafiz Waliullah Bokhari based in Sydney is a member of Seena Incorporated, the publishers of AMUST, Hafize Quran and professionally a dentist.
He has worked for the promotion of AMUST having contributed towards its wide distribution enhancing its readership.
Mr Zia Ahmad, Editor-in-Chief, AMUST, Sydney, Australia
Zia Ahmad is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Australasian Muslim Times AMUST having published and edited a number of magazines including Al-Iman, Ad-Dawah, Insight, Salam and Insight over the last four decades.
Professionally a Biochemist with BAppSc (Biomedical Science), MAppSc (UTS) he retired in mid 2013 after more than 40 years of active service at the School of Molecular Bioscience, University of Sydney.
He helped found a number of organisations including SUMSA, AIM, ICNSW, AFIC, IFEW, MEFF, AMU Alumni of Australia and Seena Incorporated and has been recognised with multiple awards from NSW Premier and a number of community and interfaith organisations.
Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, Founder of Sound Vision/ Producer of Radio Islam, Chicago, Illinois, USA
Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid based in Chicago, USA is the founding president of non-profit Multimedia company Sound Vision and producer of Radio Islam nightly talk show.
As an imam, he gives Friday sermons (“khutba”) at various Chicago mosques and prayer locations and has been Chairman of of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago
He held the Chair of the Parliament of the World’s Religions from 2010-2015, chairs Burma Task Force USA and is the National Coordinator of Bosnia Task Force USA.
Dr Aslam Abdullah, Editor-in-Chief, Muslim Observer, Los Angeles, California, USA
Dr Aslam Abdullah based in Los Angeles, USA is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Muslim Observer, a community newspaper widely circulated in various cities in America.
He has studied at JNU in Delhi having received a doctorate in communications from the University of London and has taught at several universities and served as Imam at various mosques and Islamic Centres.
He has served in the past as Editor of Minaret and Arabia Magazines and is involved in interfaith dialogues and appeared on many TV and Radio shows and regularly writes at draslamabdullah.com
Dr Javed Jamil, Chair of Islamic Studies, Yenepoya University, Mangalore, India
Dr Javed Jamil currently holds the Chair of Islamic Studies at Yenepoya University, Mangalore, India and is internationally recognised for work in various fields related to the Applied Islamics, community health, social sciences.
A medical doctor by profession, he has Authored 19 books and more than 600 articles on diverse issues in last 40 years and is and is a critical thinker and an influential speaker having addressed audiences globally in person and online.
The diverse subjects ihe has tackled include the study of various global ideologies, international issues, studies of Quran and Islam from various angles, presentation of alternative Islamic paradigms in various fields including health, politics, physics and economics.
Professor Dr Khalid Yusoff, Vice Chancellor, UCSI University Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Professor Dr Khalid Yusoff is currently the Vice Chancellor of UCSI University based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was instrumental in establishing Islamic studies circles (Usrah) while a student leader during the late seventies in Australia.
A medical graduate from the University of Melbourne with postgraduate degrees from UK, he has been a senior consultant cardiologist, academic and researcher holding membership of medical professional bodies in Malaysia, Australia, UK, and USA.
He has published widely, including in the world’s top journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association and Lancet and was instrumental in building the Heart Centres both in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Professor Dr Anwar Gilani, Vice Chancellor, University of Manipur, KP, Pakistan
Professor Dr Anwar Gilani is currently the Vice Chancellor of the University of Manipur in KP, Pakistan having worked for 30 years as professor of Pharmacology at Agha Khan University in Karachi.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Sydney in 1985 and has occupied top national ranking in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is recipient of several national/international research awards in his field.
The Government of Pakistan has conferred him the title of Distinguished National Professor, Life-Time Academic Achievements Award and two civil awards (Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz).

Mr Ahmed J Versi is the Publisher and Editor of The Muslim News, London, UK, a Parliamentary Gallery and Press Lobby journalist and consultant to British Muslim leaders, UK policy makers (both government and opposition) and politicians and to the media on British Muslim affairs.
He has been a regular speaker at international conferences covering Islamic issues at the local and global level and focuses on media representation and manipulation.
The Muslim News was founded in 1989 and has been published consistently for more than three decades and reaches over 150,000 people in the UK alone, having the largest circulation of newspapers for not only Muslims in Britain, but it is also the largest circulating ethnic newspaper.

Mrs Mehar Ahmad is the President of non profit organisation, Seena Incorporated, the Publishers of AMUST based in Sydney, Australia.
She completed a Bachelor of Teaching from University of NSW and a Masters in information Technology in Education from the University of Sydney and currently works as a public school teacher.
She has played an exceptional role in the Muslim community and is an excellent role model and has been recognised as NSW Women of the Year Award 2019 (Cabramatta) and in the Mosaic of Muslim Women in Australia, 2018 by Muslim Women Association, Sydney.
Mr Sikandar Azam, Editor, Radiance ViewsWeekly, New Delhi, India
Mr Sikandar Azam is currently the Editor of Radiance ViewsWeekly, New Delhi, India and publishes a running column named “Ultimate Success” in the same publication.
He obtained an MA in English from Magadh University Bodh Gaya, Bihar in 1983 and worked as Lecturer in English for about 7 years in different colleges of Bihar before joining Radiance in July 1991.
He also completed Journalism course, JD, from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi and has written a number of reports, interviews and articles published in various issues of Radiance.
