In an announcement sent yesterday, The Australian National Imams Council announced that The Day of Eid Al-Fitr and 1st of Shawaal 1440AH will be Wednesday 5 June, 2019.

     

    Eid Al-Fitr 1440AH-2019 Announcement:
    All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad.
    We thank Allah (SWT) for giving us the ability to fast the Month of Ramadan, the ability to worship him, and the ability to fulfil our religious and worldly obligations.

    The Grand Mufti of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad, and the Australian National Imams Council, wish to make the following statement regarding the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan 1440H -2019, and the Day of Eid El-Fitr:

    Tuesday the 4th of June, 2019 will be the 30th and the last day of the Month of Ramadan for the year 1440AH

    and The Day of Eid Al-Fitr and 1st of Shawaal 1440AH will be Wednesday, the 5th of June, 2019

    The Grand Mufti of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad, and the respected Imams of the Australian National Imams Council, acknowledge the different opinions amongst the scholars on this topic and that not all Imams and schools of thought agree on the criteria and methodology used in determining the beginning and the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, including prominent member Imams from the Australian National Imams Council and its executive committee members.

    It is therefore, the Australian National Imams Council and the Grand Mufti of Australia call upon all Muslims to respect these differences by avoiding debates that lead to disagreements and misunderstanding amongst the Muslims and to focus on the unity amongst the community and what brings them closer to Allah the Almighty.

    The Grand Mufti of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamad, and the respected Imams of the Australian National Imams Council, wish the Muslim community a happy, joyful a blessed Eid Al-Fitr, and encourage the Muslim community to engage with their fellow neighbours and friends in displaying the true and peaceful image of Islam, and the true spirit of being an Australian Muslim. May Allah accept your fasting and worship in the Month of Ramadan
