A representative team of Suprovat Sydney, the most circulated Bengali community newspaper of Australia met the Mayor of City of Canterbury-Bankstown Council Mr Khal Asfour in his council office on Wednesday 1 August 2018

The objective of this meeting was to become familiar with the person responsible for an area which consists of the most ethnically and culturally diverse population in Australia.

Suprovat Sydney’s Editor-in-Chief Mr Abdullah Yousuf, Editor Dr Faroque Amin and a local community leader and ALP Lakemba President Mr Hasan Qureyshi were present in this meeting to exchange views.

The Honorable Mayor thanked the community newspaper for their voluntary work for the last 10 years in raising public awareness and supporting the multicultural community.

He also praised the Bangladeshi community for their hard work and contribution in advancing this great country.

Mr Abdullah Yousuf raised some issues of public interest such as local cleanliness, illegal dumping, law and order, communication infrastructures  in the local area.

In response, the Mayor discussed the activities, limitations and future plans of the council.

According to him, residents have to take pride in their area and move forward with their demands to approach any relevant authority.

He assured that  will continue to do every possible task in order to serve the people of this city for the better.
